Pakistan Spelling Bee (PSB) is a nationwide spelling competition for school children from grades 3 to 10. Children can register through schools, and also independently. Home schoolers can also participate as individual participants. PSB is held in both English and Urdu languages.
The competition is held in two stages: The PSB Regional Championship (3 rounds) and the PSB National Championship (3 rounds)
Our competition venues typically have capacity for approximately 750 teams (1,500 students). When a venue becomes full, a new venue is announced. To distinguish between the regional championships held on different dates in the same city, the regions are named Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, etc.
A school can participate in multiple regions and only the team fee has to be paid. However, a team or student who has participated once in the 2025-2026 PSB, cannot compete again that year.

There is no upper limit on the number of teams a school branch may register from each grade, provided the regional center has the required capacity.
The Pakistan Spelling Bee team is available to guide schools and answer any questions by phone or email. Schools can also book PSB training sessions for a fee.
All teams must make their own travel arrangements to and from their competition venue, and be present on the given date at their reporting time. Teams must also make their own lodging and board arrangements where extended or overnight stay may be required.
Both British and American spellings will be accepted in Pakistan Spelling Bee championships.
The competition will take into account ONLY the correct spelling of a word and the correct procedure of spelling it. We do not discriminate against variant pronunciations.
In the PSB Regional Championships, all tests for Rounds 1 and 2 have 7 words from the official list and 3 words from the hidden list. In Round 3, every third word is from the hidden list. In both Rounds 1 and 2 of the PSB National Championship, 4 (four) words will be from the official list, and 6 (six) words from the hidden list.
A team can have a maximum of 2 (two) students from the same grade and school branch.
Yes, all teams, whether school teams, or individual participants, will only compete with teams from the same grade. That is, a Grade 5 team will only compete with other Grade 5 teams.
The PSB administration will do its best to accommodate students with physical challenges and special needs. Schools are requested to inform PSB to accommodate students with special needs involving sight, hearing, speech or movement, at the time of team registration. PSB officials may, at their sole discretion, administer oral, written, or online tests for students with special needs to make the competition accessible to them.
